With approximately 40,000 vehicles per day use this road, drivers should plan extra commuting time during construction. Motorists will be guided through the work zone with cones, barrels and arrow boards. and 5 a.m., Sunday nights through Friday mornings. and multiple-lane closures nightly between 8 p.m. Motorists can expect single-lane closures on MD 187 Mondays through Fridays from 9 a.m. High-visibility continental crosswalks have been shown to increase yielding behavior among drivers and can play a key role in creating safer, higher volume roadways for pedestrians and bicyclists. The wide, white road markings of a continental crosswalk run parallel to the curb. Additionally, MDOT SHA will upgrade crosswalks to include high-visibility continental crosswalks. The project includes milling (removing the top layer of asphalt), paving and restriping more than two miles of Old Georgetown Road. The project should be completed by the end of the year, weather permitting. (October 6, 2022) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will begin a project on Sunday, October 9, to resurface MD 187 (Old Georgetown Road) between south of I-495 (Capital Beltway) and north of Nicholson Lane in North Bethesda.
